Fifteen Years In: This Is Us Now
A milestone anniversary, a new website, and a firm that works differently than it did a year ago. Here’s where BlueIvy stands now.
Melissa Perlman started BlueIvy Communications 15 years ago on a simple idea: that relationships, built and kept over time, are what move the needle for the organizations we serve. Relationships are why I got into this line of work, and I’m proud to help carry her mission forward. With our new website launching and the firm marking 15 years, I wanted to share where we are now.
A lot has changed lately, most of all AI. Rather than watch it happen to our industry, we’ve brought it into how we actually work. We’ve built AI tools into our research, our media monitoring, and the early stages of our writing, and we’re constantly testing new ones as they come out. Part of the job now is keeping our finger on the pulse: learning what these tools do well, where they fall short, and how they change the work for the clients we serve. It’s a moving target, and we’ve decided the only real way to advise anyone on it is to be using it ourselves, every day.
What that’s given us is time. Research that used to take a day takes an afternoon. Coverage is monitored in real time. First drafts arrive in minutes instead of hours. On a busy campaign, that adds up fast, and it all goes back into the work that actually needs a person.
Because that work hasn’t changed at all. It’s the reporter who picks up because we’ve never wasted their time. The story we talk a client out of, because the timing’s wrong and we can see it before they can. The reputation we protect quietly, before anyone outside the room ever knows there was a problem. The introduction that only happens because we’ve spent years being someone worth introducing people to. And the read on a situation that says to wait a beat, or not send the email at all. A tool can’t do any of that, and it’s still where the real results come from.
So that’s the approach: let AI carry the busywork, and give our people more room for the parts that matter. The relationships stay with the people. We tried it on ourselves first, rebuilding our own research and drafting around these tools before we ever put them in front of a client, and we’re still refining it as the technology moves.
That local footing means more now than it used to. West Palm Beach and South Florida are having a real moment, drawing people, businesses, and national attention at a pace the region hasn’t seen before. We’re proud to be one of the communications firms helping organizations here tell their stories through it, and we’re looking forward to growing right alongside this market for the next 15 years.
The belief Melissa built this firm on is exactly the same. We’re still here, still doing the work the way she always has, now with sharper tools and a little more time to do it well.
